Clothes shopping has become frustrating for me. Either things don’t fit right, or I know that I can make it myself for much less than the store wants. So with Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket, I headed out to Jo-Ann’s to buy some nice, soft, light weight knit fabric that I’d been eyeing for awhile.
My inspiration came from Banana Republic. Their tops are beautiful, but at $69.50, 79.50 and 45.00, they were WAY out of my price range (I scoff at $25.00). Granted, their tops are made of silk and Merino wool, but nothing a soft knit couldn’t compete with. And my tops only cost $10 each.

Oh, and it doesn’t stop there. Remember how I turned an old sweater into a cardigan? Well, I’ve decided I really like the cardigan look these days. I think it’ll be showing up in my wardrobe a lot. Seems like the perfect balance of comfort and style for a working mommy of an 11-month-old. Well, I now have a cardigan to go with each of these tops!
Wanna know something else that’s fun? I used the same pattern for the base of all three shirts. And it was easy. And I’m going to show you how I did each one! Are you excited yet? Oh good. Me too. Watch out this week for the tutorials!
