Wow! We’re nearing the end of this birthday week! I have had so much fun with it and I hope you have too. I’m especially loving all the comments in the Ali Foster Patterns giveaway where one possible entry is telling me how you learned to sew. I was so touched by Kristi’s comment in which she said:
Ok first of all, this isn't a ploy to get an extra vote but umm... you taught me to sew. You and all the sewing blogs you've led me to in the past week or so. I'm such a newbie (obviously) but I went and bought the pattern you used for your 3 knock-off shirts and a nice black knit. I can't wait to try them out myself. I've also made curtains to put behind our desks to hide the cords from my little man. This evening I made a gift bag/reusable snack bag for a gift for our day care teacher. And... that's all I've ever sewn! haha!
So Thank you!!! You're such an inspiration!

She made my day! Her comment came on my actual birthday—the day I got to spend at home taking care of my sick kiddo. It was like an extra gift.
Now, to share with you my latest project. Nolan was super sweet and recently bought me a new (to me) cell phone. I am loving my new phone. Only problem is that it’s the exact same phone as Nolan has, so it’s hard to tell which phone is who’s at glance.
My phone before:
I cut a sweet little bird on a branch out of a light lavender vinyl with my Silhouette. Use the method I told you about HERE to apply it. And I had a quick 5 minute transformation for my phone! Now I can tell the difference between mine and Nolan's.
I’ve been having some troubles lately with my cutter not doing clean cuts or having a harder time with intricate work. This image is only 1.9” x 1.75” with some tiny details like the bird’s feet and notches on the branch. I had seen a few people reference slowing down the speed for cutting and decided to try it myself. A speed of 6 and thickness of 10 seemed to do the trick!
And now I keep hearing “Put a bird on it!” from Portlandia… which I love even more since I live in Oregon.
And, just a few more matters of business:
