I’ve been trying to get my mantel decorated for spring for a few weeks now. I’ve definitely done better than I did last year—it wasn’t until I decorated for the 4th of July (on July 2 I think it was???) that I finally put away my winter décor! The Pottery Barn garland knock off from my mom helped kick start the decorating.
This little nest was originally attached to a large twig. I got it at Joann’s on a nice sale. Then just cut the twig off and put the nest on a candlestick from Goodwill instead. The “eggs” are from a box of basket filler/potpourri in beach theme that I got at Ross.
I saw these adorable birdhouses on The Speckled Dog and had to make some myself. I bought my birdhouses for $1 each at Joann’s, shabby-chic’d them up (a little more shabby than chic, oops!) and glued them to some candlesticks from Goodwill (the white ones I painted and then glazed like the houses).
The garland is also from Joann’s (I love their sales and coupons). It’s topped with some yellow fabric (the same as I used for this ruffled scarf), and some straw balls (the natural colored ones are from a basket filler set we got for our wedding, the blue ones are from the same set as the “eggs”).
Some long stems of flowers (Joann’s, of course!) in a tall glass pitcher and the wrought iron lantern my SIL found in a shop in Cambria, CA finish the look off perfectly.
And then, step back for a little bit of reality…
Take a moment to stop by the awesome link up parties I’ll be joining in on. Their buttons (which link you to the party) are in my right sidebar.
