This was my project for the "Kids Can Do" round of SYTYC. In past seasons I've noticed that for this theme projects were either something a kid could participate in making, or they were cute and a kid could later play with it--a combination of both was rare. I wanted to accomplish that combo! I'll have a tutorial up for it later this week, but in the mean time, I thought I'd share my entry post. And, don't forget to go vote for this round!
This felt “nesting” book is a nest in itself! It tells a sweet, simple story: The birds are building nests today. With twigs, grass, mud and string. The birds are building nests. They’re using everything!
This project is not only something fun for a kid to play with, but it’s also something a kid can do! My six year old helper learned to use a sewing machine by doing the edge stitches on the pages. The embroidery work could also be done by a child!
But the fun doesn’t stop there! The bird in the middle is also a finger puppet!
This sweet, simple little book is the perfect first sewing project and will then provide lots of fun in the future!
Parties I’ll be linking up with:
Hoo’s Got Talent, The Sunday Scoop, The Sunday Showcase Party, Made By You Monday, Market Yourself Monday, Making the World Cuter Monday, Weekend Wrap Up, Motivate Me Monday, Frugalicious Friday, Feature Yourself Friday, Just Something I Whipped Up, Mad Skills Party, Get Your Craft On, Anything Related, Make it Yours Day, The Shabby Nest, Kojo Designs, Tea Rose Home, Whatever Goes Wednesday, Real Momma, Real Style, Idea Sharing Wednesday, Creative-ly U, Tutorials and Tips Tuesday, Sew Cute Tuesday
Perfectly adorable, and such a sweet first-sewing project for a child. Very, very creative! Thanks for sharing!
