I saw THIS tutorial a few months ago on Designer Garden for a great headband holder. I told my friend, Lucy, about it so she could make one to display our headbands for the Farmhouse Show. She used an oatmeal can and pencil holder for the base. Here it is on my baker’s rack in our booth…
This past weekend, my friend, Natalie, and I had a booth at a small town festival. I had an empty oatmeal can sitting around, and thought it would be fun to make my own display.
I first wrapped it in a pink striped seersucker, and then wrapped some burlap around it and frayed the edges. Sage green grosgrain ribbon added the finishing touch. I also used a $1 candle stick from Goodwill as the base.
I left enough excess fabric on the top and bottom to tuck under and in. To cover the tucked fabric on the bottom, I cut out a circle of pink felt and glued it onto the bottom. I also found that a wider mouthed candle stick provided the best support for such a tall can.
The fabric that was tucked in was then finished with a satin ribbon so raw edges wouldn’t be exposed.
Not only can headbands fit around it, but they can also go around the rim. You could also fill it with bows and clips!
And here it is on our booth, next to the two that Lucy made. I’m thinking I need to have a little girl some day for all the pink things I keep making.
Thanks for stopping by!
