I tend to wear my hair two ways—down on the day I wash it:
Or bangs pinned back on the days I don’t wash it:
(And I have to admit: the bangs get pinned back even on days when I do wash my hair. It was a lot harder to find a picture with the bangs down than up.)
I used to be really creative with my hair. And then, for some reason, that stopped. So last week, in conjunction with Cheri’s Hair Week at I am Momma, Hear me Roar, I challenged myself to go five days without just pulling my bangs back in a centered pin. I had a lot of fun with it, and Nolan even complimented me one of the days because he liked my hair (unusual!). So here you have a sort of What I Wore: Hair Edition.
Monday: Pinned to the side with a rosette bobby pin.
Bobby Pin: Ruffles ‘n Such
Necklace: Ruffles ‘n Such
Shirt: Gap
Tuesday: A little up in a Waterfall French Braid
I forgot to take pictures until I got in the car. I only did the top portion on one side and liked the way it still got my bangs out of my face but was also a little more interesting than my usual look.
Shirt: Maurices (not that you can see much of it)
Wednesday: A twisted headband
Again, forgot until I was in the car… This one is just a two part French braid. I did it down both sides this time, so it essentially made a headband. Both sides are held in place at the end with bobby pins.
Cardigan: Target
(and I can’t remember what else I was wearing with it…)
(and I can’t remember what else I was wearing with it…)
Thursday: Oops! No pictures and I can’t remember what I did. I’m guessing I just left it down?
Friday: Waterfall French Braid (again)
It was my friend Mary’s birthday, so Jace and I an another friend and her son had a picnic with Mary followed by a carousel ride and sno cones at River Front Park in Salem. I liked the look from Monday so much I did it again.
Tank: Maurices
Shorts: Kohls
Shorts: Kohls
Saturday: Pinned back, but curly!
I was in a hurry to get ready for church after working in our yard all day. But at least I went a little different and wore it curly, right?
Dress: 1.5 Hour Maxi
I wish I could say I challenged myself again this week… but I am getting my hair cut today and I’m soooo excited! I love haircuts! And I made a super cute matching skirt/headband combo for my hair dresser’s daughter and her American Girl Doll since we do haircuts on exchange.
Do you get in a hair rut? How do you help yourself get out of it?
I’ll be linking up with Nina’s Real Momma, Real Style.
I'm ALWAYS in a hair rut. I go to work at 6am 3 days a week so there are usually 2 options on those days:
ReplyDelete1. Wet bun with bangs pinned up
2. Scrunched with jell while wet
(This turns into #1 after I go to the gym on my lunch break haha)
On the days when I have time, I dry and straighten my hair, but its always the same... flat, straight, tucked behind my ears. No matter what cut I get, that is about all my hair will do.
I love your braiding and twisting ideas tho, will have to give those a try!
I used to do much more interesting things to my hair too. Not lately, but years (!!) ago.
ReplyDeleteI started following the blog Hair Romance (which I think was featured during IAMHMR's hair week). Haven't managed to successfully make my hair interesting yet, but I'm trying.
I tried to make my hair interestin a few months ago and it lasted maybe 2 days. Ugh! I really need to work on this, but at this point it's just another item on my long list of things I want to start doing! *lol* It looks super cute though! My favorite is the waterfall french braid!

Cute pics, I was wondering if you had the winner for my headbands yet. Just wanted to check beacause my email has been bad and I am missing lots of messages. Thanks, Mindie from Bacon Time.
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable! I especially love it curly--that looks great on you. And I love all the braids! If I didn't know I totally suck at doing hair and mine was always a disaster back when it was long and I never could have recreated any of these cute hairdos, this post would've really made me miss having long hair :-)
ReplyDeleteI confess that I'm in a hair rut right now. I'm growing out my bangs and trying to decide whether to cut them again or not. And my hair is WAY TOO LONG.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, this post inspires me to finally get to the salon.
Thanks for the inspiration:)
