A friend of mine found out last week that the baby she was carrying no longer had a heartbeat. While it was early in the pregnancy, the baby was real and significant. I wanted to make her something as a memorial to that short life. Oh how I found myself wishing I could do metal stamping!
I chose gray for the bead color since things feel gloomy right now.
Then on three of the beads, I painted in white lettering “Born” “Into” and “Heaven.” My friend will know what the beads say, but to the casual onlooker, they’ll just look like they have a design painted on them.
Her baby never had to know all the sadness, hurt and darkness of this world. Instead, it only knows perfection. I take joy in that fact.
A coat of varnish and they were ready to be strung. I used a wire necklace I had and then added a small yellow rosette for some sunshine, some hope.
I hope she likes it. I know I felt honored to make a gift for her.
Parties I’ll be linking up with:
Hoo’s Got Talent, The Sunday Scoop, The Sunday Showcase Party, Made By You Monday, Market Yourself Monday, Making the World Cuter Monday, Weekend Wrap Up, Motivate Me Monday, Frugalicious Friday, Feature Yourself Friday, Just Something I Whipped Up, Mad Skills Party, Get Your Craft On, Anything Related, Make it Yours Day, The Shabby Nest, Kojo Designs, Tea Rose Home, Whatever Goes Wednesday, Real Momma, Real Style, Idea Sharing Wednesday, Creative-ly U, Tutorials and Tips Tuesday, Sew Cute Tuesday, Make it, Wear It
Cute! Great job
ReplyDeletethat is so sweet for you to do for your friend!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet and thoughtful! When I lost my last one at Christmas, a dear friend gave me an ornament of an angel holding a baby. I'll cherish that forever, and I'm sure your friend will cherish this gift you've made for her.

ReplyDeleteYou are such a good friend for wanting to make something for your friend so she knows that you are there for her during such a difficult time. The necklace is beautiful, but the sentiment behind it is more so.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful necklace and a very thoughtful thing to do.
ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law lost her baby very late in her pregnancy (about 7 months along) just a few months ago. What a difficult thing to lose a baby, no matter how far along you are! I am so thankful that we know the hope of faith in Christ. This is a very sweet gift for your friend to remember her baby by.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! Whay a great way to show your love and support for your friend in this sad time.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great momento to help your friend! My sister made me a necklace when I had my miscarriage...she used the birthstone of the month Jude would have been born. It helped me to name my baby and I recently read "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo and it confirmed for me that naming a miscarriage baby should be done! Just a thought. Found you on the Someday Crafts linky! :)

What a thoughtful and kind gift. I wasn't very far along when I had a miscarriage but still think about that baby more than anyone knows.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful idea. I'm featuring you on Make It Wear It.
ReplyDeletethis is such a good idea, and it is very thoughtful of you to do that. i have a friend who also just went through the same thing yesterday. do you think i can borrow your idea and make one for her?
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet idea for someone who is obviously experiencing something incredibly awful and tragic... a nice way for her to remember without necessarily explaining it to anyone and everyone she sees.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's so beautiful by itself, then a powerful message of significance is attached to it.
ReplyDeleteHaving had 4 miscarriages myself, I can honestly say that this would be a great gift to receive during that time of loss. I have a mother's necklace for my 6 children. I have 6 little rings with their birthstones on it and 4 tiny charms for my angel babies that float along the necklace. They hide there on my necklace and keep my babies close to me. I love this idea of yours!
