Fabric Envelopes

Back in June I pinned THIS adorable fabric envelope tutorial from Jones Design Co. (I like to pretend in my mind that I know Emily… after all she is friends with my cousin’s wife. Not that we’ve ever met. But I’m guessing we were both at their wedding however many years ago, so that counts, right?)

I’ve been meaning to make some for a while, and the craft show I was a part of this past weekend was just the right motivation. I found a sweet set of fat quarters at Walmart that I knew would be perfect. I love the sweetness of the material.

I only got 3 made before running out of heat and bond, but have the fabric cut out to make two more. The only thing I did differently than Emily was I used a button hole instead of elastic wrapped around the envelope. I just was sure to make the button hole and attach the button before folding and sewing the rest of the envelope.

I’m planning on making quite a few more. They’re so simple and so fun. Plus, I have a gift card that I need to give a friend’s daughter who watched Jace during our small group during the school year. I’m thinking some fun purple seersucker would make the perfect envelope for her.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. That's so funny...I always pretend I know Emily too, since she's friends with my huband's cousins wife (did you follow that?!) and literally just lives down the street from me! Maybe one day we can stalk her together, bring her coffee and our glue guns and get our craft on together!
