I’m Crocheting Along

2011-09-19 027

Instead of doing a Tips & Tools Tuesday post for you today, I thought I’d let you know about a tutorial series I’m following along with. Rachel over at Maybe Matilda (one of my favorite blogs) is having a Crochet Along! She does beautiful crochet work herself and even designs and sells patterns. She thought she’d share her skills by teacher her readers to crochet as well. We’re making this cowl:

I’ve done some crocheting in the past, but it was very simple and required constant Google searches to figure out how to follow my pattern and never finished a project I started. I love how well Rachel helps explain the pattern for this! I decided I didn’t want my cowl quite as chunky, so I went with a much thinner yarn than suggested which reduced it by half the width. I just started this evening and am about 10 inches into my cowl. I’m loving how it’s turning out!

If you’d like to participate or just learn how to crochet, hop on over HERE and check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I'm doing the crochet along too :) I love the yarn you chose can't wait to see your results!

  2. Woohoo! I'm so glad you're participating--and thanks for blogging about it and spreading the word! I'm so glad my instructions have been helpful--there's nothing more frustrating than getting stuck trying to learn something new. I can't wait to see your finished cowl! (My mom is actually doing the same thing as you--using worsted weight and making it much thinner than the chunky one the pattern normally makes. Her's is in a pretty silvery gray, too! I love that color.)

I appreciate comments so much! I'll do my best to reply to you here in the comments section, especially if there is a question so future readers can see the answer.
