My Closet & Bedroom

After showing you my mess of a closet in this post, I felt the need to redeem myself by showing you what it looks like now. While taking the pictures of it, I started thinking that a post just about my closet might be a little boring—after all, all I’m showing you is that it’s clean. There’s nothing creative or pretty about it (unless you consider the clothes within in pretty). So I took some pictures of my room as well! Which meant I cleaned my room as well. And since we’re friends here (right?) I got it to the point of clean, but not necessarily amazing. I still have some piles here and there. And I’m showing you the real version—power cords, ugly fan, dog crate and all.

So first, I’d like to present to you my clean closet:

I really am blessed with a great bedroom—it’s very large, the bathroom is spacious, and there is a full walk-in closet in addition to a half walk-in closet. I get the big one!

I’ve always liked having my clothes sorted by color and type. I start with shirts, then cardigans, jackets, pants and skirts, heavy sweaters, then dresses. Each section is color sorted.

Purses and handbags are contained in two cubes.

Shorts, capris, jeans and sweatshirts up top.

I love my bedroom furniture. Our headboard is from Pottery Barn. We bought it with money from my grandparents for our wedding. We were actually very surprised by how affordable a headboard from Pottery Barn is if you don’t get the footboard or frame as well. Our nightstands are from Target. If you look closely you’ll see that my nightstand (left side) has tums, a baby monitor and other clutter on it. All very necessary clutter.

Opposite our bed is the bathroom and my closet. The bathroom door has my new full length mirror on it so I can show you all my No Spend September outfits! The dresser under the TV was bought at a garage sale and then painted. I’m keepin’ it real here and left the laundry basket full of Jace’s clothes that need to be put away.

I have all my belts hung up.

We have the dog crate in our room. And the dog bed is under the window. As much as I would love to have a free standing full length mirror in that corner, we are real people living in a real house. (And the baby gate I forgot to move is used to keep the dog in the room at night. It helps contain Jace too, but it was purchased for the pets.)

The dresser is between Nolan’s closet (left) and the door to our room (right). The top of it is rarely that clean. I love my shelf full of books! (Jace does too, he likes to pull them off!). The fan may be ugly, but when your room does a wonderful job of trapping the evening sunshine and staying hot even with the air conditioning on, it’s a must.

And, as much as I love you, I’m not willing to show you my bathroom yet. Plus, it really isn’t pretty. One of these days I’ll paint it and be proud and want to show you. But for now, I’ll just let you see how I keep my necklaces. This is a sweet key rack that I bought back in college and love the way it holds my jewelry.

My Sophie girl decided to go CRAZY on the dog’s bed while I was cleaning up. Poor Toby (the dog) didn’t know what to think of this. He has a very healthy fear of our cats.

I was surprised by how many dog bones were hidden throughout our room.

Ah, now I’m going to relax. I’m determined to keep my room clean, too. I love waking up in a clean room. Some how, even while my eyes are still closed, I can just feel that my room is clean.

Thanks for stopping by! If you’re wanting to see more of my house, check out these posts:

  4. I love your nice organized closet--and I'd love to have my own closet separate from my husband's . . . his half isn't quite as neat as I like it :-) (PS, thanks so much for joining my crochet along! I'm so glad to have you!)

  6. Very nice closet! I had a closet of doom...well a few that I had to clean up, too! And as mom's we all need the necessary clutter! I bought this narrow tallish basket to throw everything in and even though it takes up so much space on the side table, I have to have all my JUNK, ya know! Love that room! :)
