This, That, and a Winner!!!

no spend september

Today kicked off my No Spend September. For the next 30 days, I am not allowing myself to spend money on clothes or fabric to make clothes with. I need to shop my own closet and work with the material I already have. I’m excited for the challenge. And to prepare for it, I spent my day cleaning out my closet and going through all my clothes.

This picture was taken a while back when I initially started the task of cleaning things up. But then I got distracted (story of my life). Today I got all my clothes either sorted and put away or put in a bag to be taken to Goodwill tomorrow. Turns out, I have a lot more cute clothes than I realized! Great affirmation that this No Spend September is the right thing for me to do.

To prepare myself for this month, I did the Dressin’ Up Week. Let’s recap all the projects:

dresses

skirts

tops

I had a lot of fun with it and I’m excited to see how each item makes its way into my wardrobe this month. Speaking of which, I’ll be taking a picture of my outfits each day and sharing them with you on Fridays. This will hold me accountable to being creative with my wardrobe as well as with keeping my room clean since I now have a full length mirror!!!! (One week of looking like a crazy person on my front porch is enough for now.)

And before I get to the news I know you’re all really waiting for, I wanted to let you know that you can now follow Made it on Monday on Facebook! My hope for the page is that I can share what’s inspiring me, get feedback from my readers, and provide a place where you can ask for help and tips as you’re making projects yourself! I’d love it if you “liked” me!

And now, the winner of the Coco Bean dress from Shabby Apple

  1. Great idea! I think I'll join you in not spending throughout Sept. I'm not much of a clothing buyer to begin with, but fabric can be tempting!

  2. I 'liked' you on fb. No buying clothes or fabric in September hhhmmm that would be a challenge

  3. My husband and I declared a "clothing fast" to help us pay off student loans. After getting corporate jobs out of college we had to revamp our wardrobes and it became a habit to go shopping regularly.
We don't buy any clothes unless we have gift cards and haven't since Christmas of 2009. We have to be creative and make the most of those gift cards, as well as friends who have boxes of Goodwill donations :)
We still both work in offices where we have to look "put together" every day, so we have to be creative for sure!
