Living Room Gallery Wall

I get to check another project off my 12 by 2012 list! Remember back when I rearranged my living room and one of the walls suddenly looked very blah?

Well, that wall now looks like this:

I love it and can’t stop looking at it… even at 2 am when I have to go downstairs to turn down the thermostat because I forgot to before heading to bed.

I love a good gallery wall. And since I cleaned out my office last week, I suddenly had more pieces to hang up! I wanted to do it well, though, and didn’t have the large piece of paper like some bloggers do to lay it out on, mark for my holes, hammer in the nails and then hang everything beautifully. So instead, I measured my space and taped it out on the floor…

And yes, my floor is disgusting, stained and covered in pet hair and tree needles. I have vacuumed since then and need to vacuum again.

Then I laid things out, played around with a few set ups…

…and finally settled on one (which I ended up changing a bit even after I started hanging). I did some measuring, put holes in my wall, pulled nails out and then put more holes in my wall, and finally was able to step back happily.

The chalkboard in the bottom right corner is being used as a Christmas countdown.

I plan on making a little Christmas pendant banner to hang on the chicken wire frame.

Now the opposite wall in the living room is looking so bare. I’m ready to get going on that one!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hi Jill! I work with Nolan but I'm home for a few weeks after shoulder surgery... He gave me your address and said I should stop by while I'm stuck in my recliner, so here I am! Hello! Love the wall, I so wish my husband wasn't so crazy about not putting holes in the wall... I think each hole I make takes a year off of his life. Ha!
